Well, now is time to figure out your Maintenance Care!
What is Maintenance Care?
The name speaks for itself. It’s the care for maintaining your treatment results of health and function, and preventing all the symptoms, discomforts and pain you had previously.
Maintenance Care in Physical Therapy
Once your pain levels and other symptoms improve, you can enter maintenance care in physical therapy.
A lot of people look for physical therapy to help decrease levels of pain. And it’s the easiest part of the treatment. The hardest part is to keep the risk factor away, by changing the habits that gave you pain in the first place.
For example, if your problem was bad posture, low flexibility and long working hours, and physical therapy treatment helped you with that, it’s great!
Your maintenance care will be to change the habits of bad posture and low flexibility with what you learned with your physical therapist and continue with a modified frequency to attend the consults.
Chiropractic Maintenance Care
The chiropractors often use the term “maintenance care” or “wellness care” as you enter your treatment plan. The wellness care will help you function, with optimal spinal movement and nervous system function.
So regular checkups and adjustments are the best to maintain your spine health and correct any imbalances before it becomes a bad thing. As in physical therapy, you’ve expected to enter your maintenance care after you’ve done with your initial treatment.
Massage therapy maintenance care
If you’ve already had a massage before, you know that are a lot you can benefit from it during and after the treatment, such as:
- Reduction of aches, pains and stiffness;
- Relief of stress and anxiety;
- Mental and physical relaxation.
But you can also see massage therapy as a form of preventative body care, not only the last resource to help you get rid of your pain and stress. Doing it regularly prevents your body from suffering from pain, stress before it becomes disruptive.
When you do your massage therapy regularly, you’ll benefit even more from it when helping your body to return to relaxation mode.
